Joseph C. Kucera, 92, 5800 Golden Ct. NE passed into the care of the Lord Sunday, April 13, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Services: 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Harlan Gillespie and The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4PM to 6PM.
Surviving in addition to his wife Violette are a daughter, Dr. Patricia Robinson Stephen of Davenport; a granddaughter, Sarah Lind Gregg of Clinton; a grandson and namesake, Joseph Robinson of Cedar Rapids; two great grandchildren, Stuart Lind and Alice Lind of Clinton; and a nephew, Harold DeLaMater, Jr. of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles and John.
Joseph was born June 14, 1915 in Elberon, Iowa. He married Violette DeLaMater on December 31, 1937 in Cedar Rapids. Joseph was the manager of the Wilson Employees Credit Union. He retired in 1980. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mizpah Masonic Lodge #639, and he was Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Malta Chapter #415. When Joseph was younger, he was active in the JayCee's and the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce. He was a Chevrolet Car enthusiast and loved to play golf. Joseph served in the Iowa State Guard during World War II.
