Memorial

Mildred A. Vosdingh, 97, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, died there Sunday, March 23, 2008, after a long illness. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church by the Rev. Beth Staw. Private Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Masoleum. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Alida Don Taylor of Cedar Rapids, and Mildred Ann Heinze of Amana; a son, Robert Marilyn Vosdingh of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a daughter, Lillian Woods; a granddaughter, Linda Sulzner; a son-in-law, James Heinze; three sisters; and two brothers.

Mildred was born on September 12, 1910 in Hull, Quebec, Canada to Henry and Lillian Navin. She married John Vosdingh on November 1, 1927 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1969. She and John Vosdingh owned the Venetian Blind Hospital.

Mildred was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and the Women's Society. She loved to knit and bake. Mildred liked working with the Women's Society but her greatest pleasure was her grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Heritage Nursing and Rehab as well as Amenity Hospice for the loving care extended to Mildred.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
