Vera A. Grow was born March 6, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Joseph and Marie Jerabek Vitek. She graduated from Franklin High School in January of 1950. She was united in marriage to William E. Grow on December 23, 1951 in Cedar Rapids. She was co-owner and operator of Bill Grow TV, with her husband, from 1953 to 1992. She was an avid bowler, and for many years was on a bowling league at Jubilee Lanes. She often spent time with family and friends at Lake Delhi where she enjoyed sunbathing and boating. She greatly enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, and will be fondly remembered for her enjoyment at the slots. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She had a great affinity for hummingbirds and found peace in watching them. She also collected hummingbird statues. Above all she was a woman who most treasured her time with her family, and the great joy they brought to her life. She will forever be missed by those whom she has left to grieve her loss.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Higley Mansion and Cottage Grove Place for the excellent care and compassion they have shown to the family. They also would like to thank all of the family from Omaha, Nancy and Paul Jerabek, Don Grow, Joanne Holmes and Pat and Bill Bilsland for all of their support, thoughtfulness, and help they have given to the family. They will forever be remembered for all that they have done.
Memorial Donations in Vera's honor may be made to Sokol Gymnastics where she was a member for many years, or to The American Heart Association.
