I knew Dave from NCBC, but mostly from "Extreme PVP" computer gaming center. My fondest memories are of watching him win his DOTA games against younger online players. I always teased him about starting to play World of Warcraft, but he was strong and refused every time. He was a man of disciplined character and I loved that about him. I'll miss him dearly. God love him.

Dear Cheryl, Tom, and Family, Please accept our most sincere sympathies at this very difficult time. David is a very fine young man and a son to very proud of. We are glad to have made his acquaintance and spend time with him during our move last summer. We are also extremely proud to know David as a dedicated American soldier. As parents we are grief stricken with the knowledge that you must deal with the passing of a child and understand that such an ordeal is extraordinarily difficult for all involved, especially the parents. Please take some comfort that David’s life and his impact on other’s lives are appreciated by all, including us. Please be assured that you have colleagues and neighbors who will lend a hand in friendship or a shoulder in comfort. We stand by you and yours during these sad times and offer our thoughts, prayers, and any assistance needed. With The Sincerest of Condolences, Mathew and Katie Marshall

Cheryl, Tom and Famiy, I am so sorry to hear this! I can't imagine the pain and sorrow you are feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Peace. Today's Daily Word - Friday, March 14, 2008 Comfort Immersed in the love of God, I move forward day by day. Whether I am feeling a sense of loss because of the end of a relationship, the termination of my employment, or the passing of someone who is dear to me, I know where to turn. I turn to God and to the love that my Creator is. As I open my heart to God, I open myself to the endless warmth and comfort of Divine Love—love that lives deep within me. The stillness of prayer offers me a perfect time to experience this love and let it wash over me, sweeping away any feeling of sadness. Awash in the love of God, I am open to divine wisdom and grace, my help in regaining my equilibrium and hope. With poise and confidence, I move forward day by day. “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.”—2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 PS I quilted with you around the time Janie had Jade; my sister was having a baby and you helped me make her quilt

Dear Tom & Cheryl, I am so saddened to hear of the loss of your beloved son. What a handsome, wonderful young man, taken much too soon. David is a terrific example of the dedication and commitment of our young soldiers. There simply are not words to lessen your pain. David is now an angel looking down over all who love him and he will always be with you. Tom and Cheryl, Paula and I want you to know how deeply we are moved by the death of David at such an early age. Although we haven't been with David since he was about 12 years old, we feel the sorrow at his death. We hurt for you as dear friends who continue to mean so much in our spiritual lives. What a joy to read about David's testimony, his love for Jesus and the service he has given to his country. We are proud to have known him and you as his parents. We will continue to pray for you that the Lord who is strong beyond our comprehension will give you peace and joy, even in the midst of this sadness. From Blake's "On Another's Sorrow" He doth give his joy to all. He becomes an infant small. He becomes a man of woe He doth feel the sorrow too. Think not, thou canst sigh a sigh, And thy maker is not by. Think not, thou canst weep a tear, And thy maker is not near. O! he gives to us his joy, That our grief he may destroy Till our grief is fled & gone He doth sit by us and moan. _________ Your family will be in my prayers. -Lawrence

Dave- The redrobin crew put flowers where your accident occured. At first we cried and prayed that it was all just a dream. But then we realized that we should remember you in life and not in death. You always made me smile, even when I didn't want to. I remember the first night we talked, for 3 hours over text because you were to nervous on the phone. We talked about going to Europe together and random concerts. You had the most gorgous eyes : Thank you for coming into my life. You will always be in thoughts and in my heart. Tom, Cheryl, and family, David was a good friend of mine from high school and Jr high. I remember when your family moved to town. David was a friend right away.I loved swimming together and lifeguarding together. He was always so much fun. He always knew when people needed a smile and a hug. When he left for the Army we lost touch and I was always sorry we did, but I knew that when I saw him next he would give me a big hug and it would be like no time had passed at all. He was a loyal person who cared about the people in his life and didn't judge others. The world is worse off without him here. I am so sorry for your loss, I know David loved you very much I remember that for sure! Your family and David are in my thoughts. He will be missed! Kelsey McCarville Kelly

Dear Tom, Cheryl, Steven and Janie, It has been encouaging to read the many wonderful comments about David, and to get a look into his life since we have lived far away for so long. Our prayers our with you today and for the many to come. I have many fond memories of David, one of the first being when I met you all for the first time while you were stationed in Ansbach, Germany David was 7 or 8. We had finished dinner and were chatting at the table. It was a corner booth you had and David was trapped in the corner, so when he was excused he crawled under the table and apparently I had teased him too much so he punched me below the belt. :- From there we started a good friendship. I will remember David for his fun spirit, his tender heart towards kids - especially how he always cared for my kids but most especially at Deela's memorial when he sat with both of my boys and Bobby fell aslep on his shoulder. For the whole day, he did everything with them helping them have fun in the midst of one of the hardest seasons of their lives. I will remember his probing, wrestling questions of faith which challenged me. After I got the sad news, I reviewed some emails we passed back and forth this past year and thought "well David, now you have the answers from the Savior himself and are enjoying the peace and comfort of your new home." May grace, peace and comfort flow to you all in abundance in the days, weeks, and months ahead. All five of us will sustain you in our prayers. Al, Elizabeth, Daniel, Bobby and Katie

When I was first told of my nephew's death, I could only think of how fragile and precious life is, and cry to our Lord God for His help and comfort for my sister and Tom. So many memories of David flash through my mind... recalling when I first saw him at age 18 months, to dancing with him as he stood on my feet when he was was a youngster, images of him throughout the years, his smile, his laugh, his deep voice as a man, and his affection. He is precious and I will see him in Glory. "Precious important and no light matter in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:16 Aunt Linda

To the family of Dave Lloyd... I didn't know your son, only through stories told by my husband who served in his unit with him. My husband had only great things to say of Dave, how he was well liked and got along with everyone. The death of a child is the hardest thing we have had to life with. I found great relief after my daughter's death in doing memorial art graphics. I was at the funeral for your son, and took a picture of my husband in the honor guard that did the salute. I hope you don't mind I made something for you. I would like to email it to you...my email address is jamie.park@yahoo.com I haven't shared the picture with anyone, it is yours alone, to do with what you want... Again my deepest sympathies.. To the Lloyds and all who read: "Wow. That hurts". That's what I Brad said to myself when I heard the news. We mourn with you. You are special people to us, and we've shared so much together. Even moving furniture and remodeling houses... : I have fond memories of David. And of all of you. Of course, when one has Jesus as Lord and Savior, we can take refuge in His words: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." We will see loved ones again, when Christ comes back and takes His own with Him to be with the Father. Then God will re-create earth and heaven back to the way it was before Adam's fall. That will be cool! The New Heaven and the New Earth will be perfect! Until then, we lean on each other, mourn together, and take joy in remembering those that have gone before us, into God's presence better than here!. May God's Holy Spirit and angels comfort you.

The news circuit of and about former students runs slowly and sporadically, hence my tardy posting. Just this day, I learned of this dreadful news. Dave was a student of mine at AHS, and he was a fine, young friend with whom I enjoyed several visits even after his graduation. As a combat veteran, Dave enjoyed mining my experiences as he pondered his commitment to defending America. Our visits regarding shared faith provided plenty of stimulating conversation, too. I'm stunned and grieved at his untimely exit, and to you who loved him, I extend my deepest most heartfelt sympathies. Licking my wounds at his loss pales to insignificance when compared to family member's grief. I rest in the assurance of grace, which promises Dave's place in His kingdom. God bless and keep you all till we join Dave.
