Doris L. Davis, 86, 1030 Memorial Dr. SE died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call from 3PM until time of service. The Rev. Kimberly Vogel will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery
Surviving are one son, Larry Covington and wife Debbie of Ankeny; four daughters, Lila Trumpold and husband Robert of Cedar Rapids, Rita Swazo of Denver, CO, Debbie Matarrese and husband Mark of Kasilof, AK and Kim Call and husband Reed of Anderson, SC.
Also surviving are one sister, Jeanette Ellis of Thompson Falls, MT; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; two sisters; and one step-son.
Doris was born October 1, 1921 in Lanesboro, Iowa the daughter of Luther and Matilda Haub Ellis. Doris was a homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. For recreation, Doris loved to play bingo and visit local casinos.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, 315 18th Ave, Hiawatha, Iowa 52233.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mercy Home Health Care and the staff of Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the excellent care they provided to Doris.
