Don Dean Anderson, 64, 3165 28th Ave Marion died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Memorial Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Chapel of Memories on Friday from 10 AM to the time of service. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Johnson of Resurrection Lutheran Church will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Judy are two sons, Dave Fiala Melissa of Des Moines and Chad Anderson fiancé Brandi Dlouhy of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Marci Anderson Tucker Tracy of North Liberty, Nicole Fiala of Marion and Tonya Johnston Tom of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Wanda Anderson of Brawley, CA and Rebecca Cabbell of Seattle, WA; 10 grandchildren, Cory, Kevin, Olivia, Brea, Brenna, Jay, Cade, Kale, Macy and Alexis; numerous nieces and nephews; and two beloved pets, Chardonnay and Shelby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Matthew Fiala; his brother-in-law, Arnold "Sarge" Anderson; and two sisters, Jean Shafranek and Sonja Davis.
Don was born March 12, 1943 in Humbolt, Iowa the son of Donald and Arlene O'Donnell Anderson. He married Karen Diane Hilbert on June 19, 1965. They later divorced. He married Judy Anne Fiala on March 20, 1993 in Cedar Rapids. Don attended the Devry Institute in Chicago in 1967. In 1968 he began his career with AT & T, later working for Northwestern Bell. He began his own business in 1986 before retiring from Rockwell Collins in 2005. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Don was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298 and attended Resurrection Lutheran Church in Marion. Don was an avid storyteller with a never ending thirst for knowledge. He will be greatly missed.
