John J. "Jack" Pink, 70, of 614 27th St. NE, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday and at the church after 10 AM on Saturday.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years Arveda, their children, Shawn Pink of Watkins, Iowa, Greg Karen Pink of Cedar Rapids, Alison Mark Winn of Manchester, Iowa, Laura Terry Rintala of Arvada, Colorado, Jonathan Pink of Seattle, Washington, and Leslie Matthew Dake of Cedar Rapids, a brother Gerald Linda Pink of Redford, Michigan, ten grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Jill Pink.

Jack was born August 15, 1937 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to James R. and Geraldine B. Corin Pink. He graduated from Cleveland Institute of Art. He married Arveda M. Lewis on August 11, 1962 in Medina, Ohio. In August of 1966 he was hired at Amana Refrigeration as a senior visual-designer. He retired in October of 2001 as Manager of Industrial Design. He loved to fish and do wood and metal working. He enjoyed going to "Jazz under the Stars". He especially enjoyed sitting on the patio sipping a cool beverage while chatting.

Jack was a GENTLE GIANT with the hands of Goliath, and the patience of Job. He was a master craftsman who could accomplish anything he set his mind to.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
