Loretta Jean Doubet, 83, of Marion, died Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Summit Pointe assisted living from complications of Alzheimer's disease. No service or visitation will be held at this time. An outdoor memorial service is being planned for early June as a celebration of her love of flowers and outdoor gatherings. For more information friends may call 319 329-7110.

Survivors include her children, Andrea of Grundy Center, Diane Jim Hendrix of Burlington, John of Marion, and Mark Penny of Mount Vernon; a bother, Bud Toft; a sister Dorothy Johnson; 11 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Loretta was born January 21, 1925, in Cambridge, Ill., to John and Edna Toft. She married Robert Ray Doubet on July 7, 1946. He died in 1987. Loretta loved her family very much and never stopped worrying about their welfare. While raising their family, she and Bob dedicated many hours to helping youth through their involvement in scouting and church youth groups. In her later years she worked for her son, John, at his dental laboratory. She had been an exceptional student in school and she used her intelligence well to circumvent the challenges of Alzheimer's disease.
