William D. Alford
To Bill's beloved Marilyn and his daughters, No one will ever forget Bill's big smile and his laugh. On the golf course or at the gin rummy table,Bill was a real pleasure to be with. Professionally,Bill had the respect of his associates and we former WMT co-workers will never forget Bill Alford. Remember the good times and keep your Faith. Marilyn, you and your girls have my understanding and sympathy. My best, Bob

Marilyn and girls, My heart aches for you this day. Kathi and I so wish we could be there to pay our deepest respects. Bill hired me in 1973. I had been a farm broadcaster only 10 months, and was was married only 2 months. He allowed us come back home to Iowa, and share my love of the farm and my bigger love of radio. I loved to make him laugh. Ron Michaelson and I used to try to on purpose to get him to laugh during our Farm Dept. meetings. I wish I had recorded some of those times when he and Glenn Kummerow and Ray Senate used to hold 'court' at NAFB meetings! They were better than a Vegas act! One joke after another. I have tears remembering it now...tears of joy and thanksgiving. I was so proud to go to NAFB meetings when Bill was helping set up the Sales/Marketing program with Charlie Might. WMT was THE leader of the pack...with 'Alfie' leading the way! He was a very organized man! When he talked...he always listed his points very clearly...and he always had at least two reasons for a decision...and he'd tell you in order those reasons, just as he had thought them out. He wasn't much for idle chatter...although he always had a minute every Monday morning to tell me about his weekend golf game if I asked. He worked hard when he worked...and he played hard when he played. I lost $25 to him at a poker game once when he came to K.C. for an Agri-Marketing Golf Outing. He was a good poker player! It would be so good to see all those wonderful WMT people tomorrow. I am still in radio...although no longer doing ag. I manage a little station north of K.C. KAIR Atchison We turned it into an all Catholic station a year ago. Hoping to purchase it later this year. Keep us in your prayers. We have all been blessed by Bill. Even though we didn't keep in touch...just knowing he's gone saddens me. Where have 30+ years gone?! Life is short...Bill Alford's name will always bring a smile! God bless you all! Amy and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your father and husband. I always enjoyed seeing him at Twin Pines when I was coaching the Kennedy golf team. I am sorry I can't attend the service to see you. I hope that time will ease the pain and memories will help you heal. Love, Anne

Dear Marilyn, Linda, Amy, and Susie, Our "winter wonderland" is keeping Tom and I from hugging all of you today, but please know that we're thinking of you through these dark days. It was a pleasure knowing Bill and we enjoyed the times we were able to spend with him. Of course, our favorite memory is the proposal and watching Bill's face and yours, Marilyn. Oh what a fun day that was! Take care. With his regained sight and renewed spirit, Bill is looking down on you and smiling at his beloved wife and girls. Love, Sharon

Dear Alford Family, I just want to express my sorrow for your loss. And, to express my gratitude to your family, for helping me find some strength and courage in my mother's final days. Marilyn, it was so comforting talking to you and your daughters. Your calmness in the face of such a loss... as well as your girls' strength and peace of mind, helped me deal with my impending loss greatly. May peace be with you all. Toby
