James E. Nye
I remember seeing all my Grandpa John S. Nye's brothers and sisters lining up at the Nye family reunions in Cedar Rapids. Now I am a great uncle, so this seems so real. I do pray for my Great Uncle Jim's family during this time of loss.

I am sorry to hear about Uncle Jim’s passing. Norma Spangler called us last night to tell us. I pray that Uncle Jim knew the Lord in a mighty way. I am sorry we cannot make it to the funeral. Our love and prayers are with you and the rest of the family, for there is never a time that we want to let go of those we love. We love you, Aunt Vi!

We were saddened to hear of Jim's passing. He was a friend to our family and my father, Melvin, always enjoyed helping Jim with his horses. Our condolences to all of Jim's family.

Dear Aunt Vi: How we wish we could be there with you in honoring/remembering Uncle Jim. Among our good and happy memories of you two are: Being in your home at the time of Mom's funeral; at the Ellis Park Pavilion for family reunions; your surprise visit at the folks' 50th in Mountain View, Mo; standing up with you as Dad read your vows in 1957. We remember you as gracious hosts. Thank you for that. We wish you well as you continue to mourn. May your grief be complete and good. May you know the comfort of God's Holy Spirit in your mourning. We send our love. Dale and Dorothy

Dear Aunt Vi, I received a call from Dale Nye to tell me of Uncle Jim's passing. You have been in my thoughts and prayers since that time. I have sweet memories of you and Uncle Jim as I was growing up. I recall Dad and Keith building your home across from Harrison School -- foundation up. I loved to visit the two of you. We were always kindly welcomed. I remember the way Uncle Jim was around you. It seemed that any rough exterior melted when he was with you. Even though I was a child, it struck me that he loved you dearly and knew that you were special. I will not be able to make the trip from Indiana for the arrangements at Cedar Memorial. However, please know that my heart is with you and I am saying prayers to hold you up. With sympathy and love, Norma Nye Spangler
