Daniel Patrick Roby, 30, of 6960 Bowman Lane NE. died Tuesday Nov. 6, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM on Sat. at All Saints Catholic Church. Rev. Gerald Condon will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. Per the family's request the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include his parents, Pat and Claudette Roby, and a sister, Paula Roby and her husband, Roy Nowers all of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by his beloved four-year-old niece, Colette, his grandfather, Oliver "Clint" Roby of Cedar Rapids and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends.
Dan was born on Oct. 5, 1977 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Patrick and Claudette Kaeberle Roby. He graduated from Washington High School in 1996 and later from the University of Iowa. Dan was the regional sales director for Screen Vision.
Dan changed the lives of every person he met. He never met a stranger, everyone became a friend. He had a smile that lit up every room he entered. He was a loving son, a devoted, cherished and protective brother and an uncle beyond compare. Dan loved his family and friends and leaves behind a legacy of great love and laughter.
Dan contributed his time and energy to two charities; Operation Smile and About Face. Those charities are devoted to children with cleft lip and palette and Dan believed deeply in the work they do. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye and San Diego Charger fan. Danny will be cherished, loved and missed by everyone he loved and everyone who loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Dan's name.
