My sympathy to the family members. It is obvious by reading the memorial that Vyrl was a committed husband, father and grandfather. His example of community service is second to none. I never worked for Vyrl, but I do remember him from my apprenticeship interview in 1979. May God's grace and comfort be with you all at this time. Sincerely, Mike Carson

Dear Martha & Family I received news of Vyrl's death yesterday thru the Scottish Rite e-mail system. I knew he was suffering poor health, but hadn't realized to what extent. His passing makes me pause and reflect. I doubt Vyrl knew the extent of respect that was held for him, not only the Electrical Ind., but throughout the Construction Ind., and the entire Business Community. Whenever he gave his word, you could "go to the bank". I don't think he realized the respect I personally held for him as a fierce competitor, but also as honorable colleague. I recall many times when the electrical bids on projects varied with considerable spread in the prices. To get the correct bid, the bonding agents would ask, "what was Vyrl's number?" As you all know, he was a wonderful steward of the community, not only of his time serving in so many capacities, but also the hundreds of thousands of dollars that he, and you Martha, gave to the many entities you supported. I enjoyed working in the same political party with him. I could always count on a generous contribution, for almost any Republican. that is unless George Lowe or Cleo got there first. He was a fine man, he will be missed. May the Lord rest his soul and be with all your family during these difficult, but special days. Sincerely, Wayne Engle

Dear Joe, Nancy, and Family: I was sorry to hear of the passing of your grandfather. You can take great comfort in the life he led and the legacy he leaves behind. What a wonderful man. I personally remember his generosity in hosting us in Florida in the late 80s. In the later years I remember crossing paths with him at Cottage Grove Place when we were visiting my Grandpa. God bless your family. Special prayers for your Grandma who now faces life alone after such a long life together. Surely there is comfort in having so many family members close by. Take care. With much love, Rod and Kim Petersen Morgan, Caroline, and Beth Anne.
