Jerrie Jensen, 83, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the care center following a long illness. Services: 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Monday from 4PM to 7PM. The Rev. Duane Hix will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lea are a son, Brian Jensen Tamara of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Connie Thompson Craig of Woodstock, GA; two granddaughters, Chrissy and Laurie; and a brother, Gene Jensen of Arlington, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a cousin Mable Hansen.
Jerrie was born July 29, 1924 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Roy W. and Viola Adams Jensen. He married Lea L. Delfs on December 26, 1951 in Gladbrook. Jerrie was a math teacher for the Cedar Rapids Public Schools for over 35 years. He was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Hanford Post #5. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving as an Intelligence Section Chief during WW II. He received four Bronze Stars and Campaign Ribbons for Luzon and the Leyte Gulf in the Southern Philippines.
A memorial fund has been established.
