Memorial

Adeline M. Andrew Opfer, 93, a resident of Village Ridge in Marion, died there Monday, September 3, 2007, following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Vicki Standley of the First United Methodist Church in Marion will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Friday.

Survivors include two daughters Lois Novak and husband Eugene of Marion, and Jaqueline Bohan and husband Thomas of El Cajon, California, a sister Alma Balderston of Marion, a brother Malvin Machacek and wife Bonnie of Winthrop, six grandchildren, Bradley Novak and wife Debora, Alicia Novak, Robina Ulrich and husband Thomas, Timothy Bohan, Christopher Novak and wife Julie, and Matthew Bohan and wife Ellen, eight great-grandchildren, Andrew and Brian Novak, Brent and Alex Ulrich, Victoria, Katherine, and Jackson Novak, and Michael Beauparlant. She is also survived by the sons of Raymond Opfer, Ron and Roger and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband C. Malcolm Andrew, her 2nd husband Raymond Opfer, and seven brothers and sisters.

Adeline was born April 30, 1914 in rural Alburnett, Iowa, to Vaclav and Pauline Novak Machacek. She was a bookkeeper at the Alburnett Farmers Elevator Company, and had also worked in the office for Collins Radio.

She was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Adeline's family wishes to express their special thanks to the staff at Village Ridge, St. Luke's Hospice, and St. Luke's Home Health Care for their tender care of Adeline.

A memorial fund has been established.
