Marion Eugene Nelson, 95, of 4611 First Ave SW, Cedar Rapids passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial Services: 11:00 AM, Friday, August 10, 2007, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Iowa.He is survived by his children Robert Cyndie Nelson and Phyllis Roger Gordon both of Cedar Rapids; Stepchildren Althea Arlan Severide of Cedar Rapids, Jack La Von Sayre of Cedar Rapids, Asenath Steichen of West Palm Beach, Florida, Glenda Dvorak of Marengo, Donna George Barnett and Georgia Jones both of Ottumwa. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by three wives, Arleta McGinnis Nelson, Martha Sayre Nelson, and Lolita Robbins Nelson December, 2006; a daughter Barbara Hewitt 2000 and several other close family members.Marion was born in Spencer, Nebraska on June 23, 1912 to John M. Nelson and Addie May Wilkerson. As a youth, he lived in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. He farmed in Adair County, Iowa until 1955 when he moved to Cedar Rapids. Marion retired from Hubbard Milling in 1977.
