We found some wonderful trout streams and had some great times. Thank you. God bless.

I have many joyful memories of Wayne. I remember how he liked the color green, and how he used to watch Johnny Carson late at night. And that he was in the lumber business and knew a lot about building things, which was really neat. One summer night he piled a bunch of us neighborhood kids into the Quaid station wagon and took us to Dairy Queen. What a wonderful summer night that was – we all felt happy and secure – eating ice cream under the pale blue sky and billowing clouds of an Iowa sunset. And how about Wayne’s famous campfires, which he held on summer nights in the backyard. Once we even got to roast chocolate marshmallows. Whenever I drive by, I can still see the little dent in the grass where the campfire was. I always look for it, and remember these times as a gift from Wayne. I visited Wayne a few years ago at home on 25th Ave. and though bedridden, he tried to stand up to greet me, still with that big smile and chuckling sense of humor. The 25th Avenue Gang will miss him.
