Memorial

Laura A. Jackson, age 90, of Marion, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 of a long illness. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4PM to 7PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 3PM in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Vicki Standley of Marion First United Methodist officiating. Burial will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral services.

Survivors include daughter; Alice McCormick Larry of Marion, son; Jerry Findlay Marilyn of Troy Mills, Iowa, daughter; Debra Smith Jim of Sierra Vista, Arizona, daughter; Denise Willhite Brad of Cedar Rapids, sisters; Peg Ware, Mary Duden, and Audrey Blew all of Ottumwa, Iowa, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and special friend Jim Jordan of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Jackson, three brothers and one sister.

Laura was born to Clarence and Alice Hunt Munn on June 21, 1917 in Davis County, Iowa. She was united in marriage with George Jackson on March 23, 1957 in Kirksville, Missouri. Laura was employed at Rockwell Collins in the paint shop and also at St. Luke's as a physical therapy aide. She was a frequent blood donor at St. Luke's, and was proud to help others with her donations. Laura spent her free time camping, crocheting, sewing, collecting cardinals and salt and pepper shakers. She was a avid sports fan, following the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeye's.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Willow Gardens and Mercy Hospice.

A memorial fund has been established in Laura's name.
