Memorial

Clarence R. Yock, 85, of the Monticello Care Center in Monticello formerly of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday July 3, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Services at 11 AM on Monday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Rev. Phil Jorgensen will officiate. Burial with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday.

Survivors include a son, Thomas and his wife, Jane of Palo, a daughter, Jayne Billington and her husband, John of Santa Rosa, California and a brother, Harlan of Clarence. He is also survived by a son in law, Bill Jones of Coralville, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Jones, a brother, Harold and an infant sister.

Clarence was born on April 15, 1922 in Clarence, the son of Harry and Naomi Gortner Yock. He married Geraldine "Geri" M. Dirks on Oct. 2, 1943 in Glendale, California. She died in 2004. Clarence was an estimator for Tom Bowker and Sons for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, American Legion Hanford Post No. 5, VFW Post No. 788 and proudly served in the Army during WWII. Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Foundation in Clarence's name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.
