Ronald A. Young, 82, of Cascade, died June 16, 2007 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque following an extended illness. Memorial Services 1 PM., Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Rev. Dick Speight will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday, June 19, 2007 from 5 to 8 PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military Rites by American Legion Hanford Post #5.

Survivors include his loving wife Geraldine Jeri; son Rick Young and wife Dallas of Grove, OK; daughter Shannon Bartlett and husband Rodney of Solon; son Kenneth Young and wife Deb of Cedar Rapids; special aunt Alice Hoiness of Harmony, MN; grandchildren Raymond Young and wife Lee of Alburnett, Miranda Niemi and husband Paul of Cedar Rapids, Alicia Clark and husband Tony of Ames, Jon Ryan and wife Mariann of Cedar Rapids, and Sara Young of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Cody and Courtney Young, Abby Niemi, and Nicholas Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Young, and infant son Mark.

Ronald Arthur Young was born February 10, 1925 in Harmony, MN the beloved son of Mildred Young. He served his country honorably during WWII in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Jeri Klein on July 10, 1947 in Marengo, Iowa. He was employed for 17 years as a Building Engineer for the Cedar Rapids School District. He was a member of the American Legion, and the Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling to Texas and North Buena Vista, and above all his time spent with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend of many and will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the memorial fund established in Ron's honor.
