Dwayne was a true gentleman. He would insist on opening the door even for the most liberated women. He dated the grandmother of my children years ago and he coached my son at Jane Boyd. He was an excellent dancer. I got to share his last dance with him. A dance that I will never forget.

It was 1970 I was just out of the Army, I ask my mom could i go with the fellows on the road with the Band. Second stop Cedar Rapids, Couger Lounge. Mr. Ampey the Boss. I was asked on Sunday "did Dwayne pass, I said No, he just passed my house Saturday, I had got my days mix up. I read it in the paper Tuesday and was sadden by the news, he was the reason I came to Cedar Rapids 36 years ago. I feel I cannot adequately express my sympathy on the passing of my friend. He was a man of exceptional warmth and passion for what he belive in. You eather like him or you didn't. A man whose natural abilities of leadership inspired others. How sad. I know I speak for the entire Band members when I tell you that his death has left a very real void wich can never be entirely filled. We can take comfort in the fact that a part of him will continue to live, reflected in the lives of his Boxing students he has instructed and guided. He gave of himselfperhaps the greatest gift of all, and those kids who were fortunate enough to fall under his tutelage will carry his ideals back to the gym. A car battey has a neg. and pos. post you need both to help make the car go.

Dwayne was a good friend and neighbor. We spent many hours working in our gardens together and just discussing life in general. He would help you whenever he could and never asked for anything in return. He Loved dogs, which was another interest we shared. He often Baby sat my Pitbull, Moonshine, when I went out of town. Just another sign of his generosity and his fearless personality. Moonshine and I will miss him dearly. Paul Tillman

I will miss us calling each other up as buddies and talking about our love for God. This pal of mine really had his spiritual bags packed because he like me looked forward to Jesus's second coming.

To the family of Dwayne Ampey. I was so saddend by the news of the loss of your father. Dwayne has been a very good friend of mine for the past 10 + years. I was a single mother for 8 years, up until about 5 mo ago, and Dwayne would always check in to see if we needed anything, take us out to dinner, send us Valentines because he knew I wouldn't get one otherwise, and was always ready to give advice. He was even there once when I had to call 911 and take my daughter in to the ER. He was always so loving, compassionate, concerned for others, and would always give his help, he would not accept anything in return. Dwayne loved the Lord with all his heart and loved to talk about his faith and his beliefs. He taught me many things in all our discussions and was always an encouragment to me. He is now worshipping at the feet of Jesus! I will miss him very very much. I know your pain and I will keep your family in my prayers during this time. Hold on to your memories, they bring so much comfort. God bless you.

Bro. Ampey was a blessing to me, a true brother in Christ. I'm sorry to hear of his passing, but overjoyed to know for eternity, I will see his face alight with the glory of our Father, singing with the angelic hosts, and walking with class down those streets of gold, giving cups of water to the singers, and kleenex to God to help wipe away all tears. Hey bro., tell everyone hello, Elijah, Dorcas, Lydia, too, everyone shouting aleleu, touch that nail-scarred foot for me, cry my tears til I sha;; see, His scarred holy face, full of mercy, love and grace, gazing thoughtfully at me, "My child" He says - for eternity! Love you, see you soon!! Marilyn
