Rose Mary Vojt, 94, of Hilltop Manor died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at her home following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday from 3PM to 6PM. The Rev. James Brokman will officiate.
Survivors include seven daughters, Gail Eklind of Williamsburg, VA, Carolyn Cook of Marion, Joyce Kemp of Smithfield, NC, Rosemary Leesekamp of Anamosa, Joanne Vogel of Hiawatha, Rebecca Guyer of Kansas City, MO, Mary Patricia Carroll of Hiawatha; a son, Tim Vojt of Columbus, OH; 36 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and beloved sons-in-law, Vernon Cook, Raymond Leesekamp, and Philip Vogel; and a beloved daughter-in-law, Lorraine Vojt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, a son-in-law Ron Eklind, five sisters and one brother.
Rose was born March 8, 1913 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Joseph and Prudence Arrigo Rizzio. She married Fred Vojt on September 20, 1932 in Cedar Rapids. Rose was a member of the Ladies Circle at St. Matthews, the American Business Women's Club, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, St. Pius X Catholic Church, and was an active participant in the Country Stepper's Dance Company for over a dozen years. She was a regular at the Hiawatha Senior Center and had many friends at Hilltop Manor where she resided until her death. Rose was that rare person who always saw the good in everyone and who started each day with a smile. She brought joy to all those with whom she came in contact. She loved dancing, cooking, bowling, gardening, doing puzzles and being with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
