Viola A. Eickstaedt, 79, of 1623 B Avenue NW, died at St. Luke's Hospital, Saturday, March 10, 2007, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brenda Peconge. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Kristan and friend, Jim; 2 sons, Terry Eickstaedt and his fianc?, Marilyn, and Dale Debbie Eickstaedt, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Kenneth Pat Packingham of Central City; a sister, Norine Baker of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Kari Kristan, Troy Eickstaedt, Jodie Veach, Taryn Kristan, and Alicia Eickstaedt; and 5 great grandchildren.
Viola was born on October 2, 1927 in Linn County to Harold and Gladys Johnson Packingham. She married Arthur Eickstaedt on May 5, 1946 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1975. She was employed by the Lefebure Company for over 34 years. Viola was a member of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a Hawkeye fan and liked to bowl, camp and fish until her health no longer allowed.
A memorial fund has been established.
