Eric Ross Johnson, 47, of Bedford, IN, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died with his daughter, Emily, Tuesday, March 5, 2007, as a result of an airplane accident in Indiana. Services are private.
Eric is survived by his mother, Joyce Johnson of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Roxanne Mick Wigen of Hutchinson, MN; 2 brothers, Kim Cheryl Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Mark Annette Johnson of Circle Pines, MN; an aunt, Ruth Connor of Akron, OH; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Richard, and his grandparents.

Eric was born January 22, 1960 in Cedar Rapids to Richard and Joyce Rathke Johnson. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Forestry. Eric worked for the National Park Service and was most recently employed at the Jackson Washington State Forest. He loved the outdoors and liked to go camping, fishing, and skiing. Eric was an avid volleyball player and a basketball coach for his daughter's team. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Bedford where he was a trustee and an Eagle Scout.

Eric's family meant so much to him but his greatest love was spending time with his daughter, Emily.
