NAME: Eleanor M. Nelson, 86, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, died there Wednesday, February 7, 2007, following a long illness. Services at 1 PM Monday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Tye Male of New Covenant Bible Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 12 noon Monday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years Arlon, a daughter Carole Nelson of Omaha, Nebraska, two granddaughters Laura Nelson and Katie Dall-Winther and husband Mark, and a great grandson Andrew Dall-Winther, a brother Ed Klouda and wife Char Les of Swisher, Iowa, sister in law Jean Murray and husband Bob of Cedar Rapids, and brother in law Weir Nelson of Cedar Rapids. Also survived by good friends Kent and Nancy Cole who raised Katie and Laura after their parents death, and honorary grandchildren Jason and Jessica Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dr. Robert Nelson and wife Sue, and a brother Milo Klouda.
Eleanor was born April 28, 1920 in Cedar Rapids to Rudolph and Mary Klouda. She married Arlon T. Nelson on June 15, 1941 in Cedar Rapids. Eleanor was a homemaker, mom, and operated the family grocery business. She was a wonderful cook.
