My mom was the most beautiful person that I have ever known on both the inside and the out. Even when her M.S. had really progressed, she still did everything she could to be the best mother and friend that she could possibly be. Now I have a guardian angel to get me through my wedding and to watch her grandchildren grow. I loved her so much and will miss her everyday.

The Nelson family, what can I say-they are one of the nicest families that I have ever known. I know this stems from the love and guidance shown to them from their mother and father. Joyce was always wanting to drive for a girl scout trip or help chaperone one of our parties. We first met during lamaze class when we were both pregnant with our first babies. I knew she was a beauty then, and as the years went by and our girls grew up together through scouts and sports, I absolutely knew it. Her love and devotion to her family and friends was always evident. I will miss her and my love goes out to her family.

Don, Amanda, Jen, & family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember her. We met when Jen started preschool with my daughter and we taught some classes together at St.Lukes. I will remember all of the softball games that she was at as well. She was a joy to talk with and even as her disease progressed I still knew she liked to hear about her daughters. God Bless you and your family. Tammi Jones & family.

Don, Amanda and Jenn, Words seem so trite at a time like this. Joyce was a blessing to all who knew her. Her love of the Lord was so evident. She let her light shine so that all who knew her were blessed. Jenn and Amanda, her light will continue to shine through you because she loved you so. Don, together with Joyce you have raised two extraorindary young ladies. May God grant you comfort in knowing that Joyce is "dancing with the Lord."

This was a nice write up and I especially love the picture you chose. This is the Joyce I will always remember. She had a warm welcoming smile and throughly enjoyed being with people. The comment about her liking to visit was always true. When she was still at home, she loved to feed people as well. She was a kind, and loving person. I will miss our weekly visits. Joyce was a great friend who brought a lot of happiness to my life.

I knew Joyce as a nursing student at Luther College. I was a new faculty member in the department when she was a senior. I remember her as being a very caring and generous person. She always seemd to have a smile on her face. Although I never had her as a student - she left an impression on me. She clearly has touched many lives.

Don, girls, family: I don't know why I had Joyce on my mind over the weekend, only to pick up paper and see the good Lord, took her home and relieved her of her suffering. We express our sincere sympathy and prayers at this time of her loss. Don I would of sent a card but have lost your address. Seeing her beautiful face took me back many years to Lake Mills. I admire you for standing by her and seeing her through this dreadful disease. We wanted to come to wake and funeral but I fell from the bleachers at a ballgame and hurt my sciatic nerve in leg and broke a bone in left hand. Please know we are thinking of you and your girls. Also her parents, your folks and brothers and sisters. I still ask Why? If you care to get in touch our phone number is 563-875-8743. Thinking of you and ask God to see you through this valley of darkness. I always remember the surprise bridal shower I had for you kids.Joyce was a marvelous woman. Take care Robert and Miriam Eick.

To the Nelson family - My condolences to you at this time. Joyce and I worked together at St. Luke's when we did some traveling for the Risk Study. My favorite times were when we went to Maquokata for a couple of days and spent time having fun, eating out, and lots of talking. Joyce was always a joy to be with. She loved her husband and girls so much and was very proud. She loved her parents and brothers/sisters and shared stories of Luther College. She loved her Lord very much and we often discussed how God was so important in our lives. What an inspiration she was for everyone. May God hold you closely and give you peace and comfort, as He has given Joyce. Anita Haughenbury
