Robert Joseph Nelson, 24, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 28, 2006. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt, Iowa by the Rev. Danner and the Rev. Schreiber. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is handling the local arrangements. A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mason Lindhart Funeral Home, Humboldt where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary Jo Nelson of Woodward; sisters, Kristine Andersen of Parker, CO, Dr. Michelle Nelson Schlichte and husband Eric Schlichte of Cedar Rapids, Dr Katherine Nelson and fianc? Dr. Mike Zwanziger of Gilbert, AZ; his grandparents, Joseph "Spud" Colwell of Humboldt, Robert and Grace Nelson of Goldfield; honorary grandparents, Mary Jane and Russell Nielsen of Atlantic; nephews, Brendan and Cole Andersen and niece, Mya Schlichte; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and many, many friends.

Rob was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Colwell.

Rob enjoyed cooking, fishing, swimming, and karaoke. He was a member of a statewide and international D and D Club.

A memorial fund has been established.
