George D. Young, 55, of 4316 Regal Ave NE, died Friday, December 29, 2006, in his home following a long illness. There will be no services. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Suzanne, six sons Ken, Calvin, Ethan, Andrew, and Stephen all of Cedar Rapids, and Joshua of Champaign, Illinois, three sisters Kathy Kalba of Villa Rica, Georgia, Lynn Cowell of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Maureen Smith of Garden Grove, California, and his mother in law Janette Ames of Hiawatha. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Mattern, and a nephew Johnny Mattern.
George was born October 10, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Elizabeth Colgan Young. He married Suzanne Ames on September 3, 1987 in Cedar Rapids. He was a self-employed plumber.
George enjoyed playing poker and spending time with his family and friends.
