Richard E. Nelson, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.

Service will be private for the family. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Marla; his son Michael, and his daughter Linda, and his brother, Roy L. Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Shirley Ogle.

Born December 6, 1933 in Peoria, Illinois, to Roy and Gladys Nelson. Richard married Marla R. Lewis on August 11, 1951.

Richard was General Manager of E. Cohn & Sons prior to opening his business, Nelson Products and Supplies Inc.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and also a long-time member of Elmcrest Country Club.

He is at peace with his god, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
