Wallace R. "Wally" Nesbitt 81, of 4617 Aspen Lane NE, died Saturday, November 4, 2006, in Manor Care following a short illness. Services at 1 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include a stepdaughter Shirley Ferring and husband Jerry of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren, Tami Abraham and husband Terry, Debbie Ferring-Seaton, and Jeff Ferring and wife Stacie, great-grandchildren Sarah and Matthew Abraham, Sanders, Ashten, Sloane, and Saylor Ferring. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister Jean Shemitis.
Wallace was born August 10, 1925 in Janesville, Wisconsin to Wallace R. Sr. and Anna Alice Kloff Nesbitt. He married Lorine Lippe on October 6, 1962 in Hanover, Illinois. She died April 11, 1993. Wallace was a valve and control operator for Link-Belt-FMC for 17 years. After his retirement he was a front-end assistant at the 32nd Street Hy-Vee for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Illinois basketball, playing cards with friends, and his dog Pockets. During his time at Hy-Vee he made many new friends, who along with his family will miss him dearly.
A memorial fund has been established.
