Anthony "Colby" Engel, 76, of Marion, died Thursday, October 19, 2006, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services with military rites will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dr. William J. Pugliese of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may register at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Tuesday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Loretta, two sons Rick and Stephen both of Marion, two brothers William H. Engel III and wife Madolyn, and John H. Engel and wife Carol all of Baltimore, Maryland, two granddaughters Candace Engel of Cedar Rapids, and Hannah Engel of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and a close family friend Lori Menge of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Colby was born July 31, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to Dr. William H. and Catherine Purdy Engel. He married Loretta Diggs on October 31, 1959, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was an off set printer for Russell Guides. Colby was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He loved to fish and read.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Diabetes Association.
