Jane Nancy Jones, 53, 5930 Flagstone Dr. NE died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness with breast cancer. Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Church of the Brethren. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Monday from 4PM to 7PM. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Springston will officiate.
Surviving in addition to her husband Allen are two sons, Kenneth A. Jones Melinda of Ottumwa and Brian E. Jones Kristin of Cedar Rapids; her mother, Carol M. Hale of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Edwin F. Hale of Baltimore, MD and Barry J. Hale Jean of Voorhees, NJ; her twin sister, Jean B. Rukert Norman of Baltimore, MD and a sister Robin Eichelberger Steve of Baltimore, MD; mother-in-law, Ruth Jones of Madison, SD; brother-in-law, Dale Jones of Madison, SD; sister-in-law Carol Jones McNamara John of Iowa City; along with many nieces, nephews and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin H. Hale; her mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Bessie Jones; and a niece, Jennifer Hale.
Jane was born October 30, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland the daughter of Edwin and Carol Feehley Hale. She graduated from Patapsco High School and attended classes at Kirkwood Community College. Jane married Allen William Jones on September 8, 1973 in Baltimore, MD, and two children were born to this union. Allen and Jane moved to Iowa in 1975 to work for Rockwell Collins. Jane quit work for 8 years to raise her children and for 10 ? years worked part time at First Baptist Church Church of the Brethren as the church secretary. She later worked for Rockwell Collins as a Senior Administrative Assistant until she went on disability in 2005. Jane was a very active volunteer in her children's schools including being PTA President of Coolidge Elementary School for two years and PTA president of Jefferson High School for two years. She also was the Cedar Rapids PTA Council President from 1994 95, serving 32 schools. Jane taught Sunday school classes for approximately 20 years and volunteered at her church in a variety of roles. Her greatest joy came from her husband Al and two sons, Ken and Brian and the closeness shared with her large family. She enjoyed a wide number of friends and church family. Jane's deep faith gave her great comfort in facing life and death. She knew the meaning of Celebrate Each Day!
