Richard was born on November 2, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Albert and Maheba Nussrallah Nassif. He graduated from Regis High School in 1960 and Loras College in 1965. After he graduated from college, he worked as a manager for K-Mart for many years. For the next several years, Richard managed hotels in Indiana and Florida. He then returned to Cedar Rapids and has managed various properties for the last 25 years. Richard was an avid duplicate bridge player. He was a member of the Sunday evening and Monday afternoon duplicate bridge clubs. Richard received the rank of Grand Master and ranked first place in several regional duplicate bridge tournaments. He was a longtime member of the American Contract Bridge League. Richard was an excellent chess player and held state and regional championship titles during his young adult years. He also enjoyed playing cards his entire life.
Richard greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews. Family gatherings were very important to him; lots of laughter, great conversation, and good food gave him such happiness and a sense of fulfillment. Richard was the foundation of our large and extended family. He kept us all together as a unit by collecting and disseminating the entire family's news. He relished his central role and spoke with great wit, charm, and love. We stayed bonded through Richard. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
