Vera Alberta Vanous

Dear Karen and Family: A mother's love is something that no one can explain,it is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,it is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may, for nothing can destroy it or take that love away.... You are in my prayers. Sharon Ullrick

Pat and Karen, Thank you for sharing Vera with us at West Ridge. We will always have fond memories of her-like ALWAYS ordering biscuits and gravy whenever we went out to eat, no matter which meal it was! I will also have my memories of her and her gift of pillow finishing that I enjoy as I look at all of my needlepoint pillows and those of my mom's. You had a wonderful mother and your memories of her will sustain you as you move through the rest of your lives. Peace and Prayers, Shirley

Although I was not personally aquainted with your mother, I had recognized her name from the past history of the Iowana Council of Camp Fire. As a previous director for Camp Hitaga, I made sure that I paid close attention to the people that had contibuted their time and talents to the council in the past. It is this volunteer effort that makes individual like your mother so cherished. Please take comfort in the knowledge of her sacrifices in years past are still impacting the youth of today. Thank you.

I was saddened to see Vera's name and lovely picture in the paper today. For many years, she took my humble cross stitch pieces and turned them in to masterpieces of pillows for gifts to family and friends. I looked forward to great chats with her. Her smile and upbeat look at life was an inspiration. The sun is a bit dimmer today. Joye Winey

Pat, Karen and Families...Many warm thoughts were brought to mind today when I read the news of your mother's death. She was an exceptional person, as you know more than any of us, and I am grateful to have been among those to have had the pleasure of knowing her. As teenagers she provided a wonderful role model; An ahead-of-her-time professional woman, yet perfect mother and loving wife who made your friends always feel welcome in your home. As we grew older I truly appreciated her delightful wit, her creativity, endless energy, love of life and enthusiasm to experience new adventures...She was a most unique and exceptional woman. I never go by the two "Vanous" homes that I do not picture her busily accomplishing one of her many projects. She was, indeed, a gem...Lovingly-Andi P.S. Karen-As time permits, please send me your email-the one I have must no longer be valid-Thanks so much!

Karen, Pat, and families, I am so glad that we got to spend time with your mother last Sunday! We really had a good time and I think she enjoyed it too! She was a wonderful person and a very important part of my life through all our years in school. She was a wonderful role model! We should all be so lucky to have such a long and fullfilling life! I know you will miss her terribly, as I still miss my mom. I will write you later! Love, Sandy

Karen, my maiden name was Tilton and we went to grade school together at Filmore. Seeing the write up of your Mother brought back many fond memories I have of all the projects we did at your house as Bluebirds. I was always in great "awe" of your Mother. Mary
