I am sad to learn of Corrie's death. It means another of Roosevelt's "old guard" is gone. I enjoyed knowing both Van and Corrie over the many years that I taught at Roosevelt. My thoughts and sympathy are with the family. Suzanne Snyder

Our friendship began in the Thrift Shop at First Presbyterian Church and over the years grew to unmeasurable love and admiration. Corrie and I shared many precious moments together and always she made me feel that I was contributing to the well being of others. Her love of music was evident when she shared her collection of sheet music with me.I had no formal music training but she praised me for what I do know and that was how she was. She was wonderful to me and I did what I could to let her know I cared for her. A friend like Corrie was God sent and may God be praised for sending her my way. She instilled in her family strong faith and courage and that courage will carry you on.

To the Van Deest Family, I will always hold Corrie in my fondest memories of the Roosevelt Days. As new teacher, Steve Archibald and I were invited over for coffee and cookies after school. So graceful and charming in everything. My condolescences to the family. We didn't know about it until after the services. Fondly, Terry and Marlyse Miller Strait

Because Corrie was my sister-in-law, I always felt privileged to call her my 'sister', the sister I never had. She was a gracious, quiet, humble and tactful person, and she and I shared many good hours of conversations. Art was both of our interests, as well as our Norwegian backgrounds, and our love for both Minnesota and Iowa. Her family was of utmost importance to her. She had a green thumb and her yard and flowers were something to behold. I really enjoyed this 'sister' of mine, and I will genuinely miss her. - Dorothy
