Howard “Andy” Earl Andersen, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 11:00 am Friday, January 18, 2019 at Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Andy was born March 14, 1936, the son of Marris and Leila (Barker) Andersen, in Pocahontas, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Andy was married to Marlene Gardemann on April 28, 2007 in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Cherry Burrell in Cedar Rapids for over forty years. Andy was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed fishing and socializing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Andersen; daughter, Patricia (Jeff) Jurgensen; son, Wayne (Teresa) Andersen; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Cliff (Elaine) Andersen; four step-daughters, Carol Cox, Julie (Kurt) Jensen, Michelle (Kent) Meyer, and Elaine Huber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant granddaughter, Stephanie; sister, Dolores Hull; and two brothers, Merlin and Glenn Andersen.
