Irene Hilton, 80, flew with the Angels home to heaven on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy with her daughter Linda by her side. Irene died a brave warrior from complication of colon cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Bali Hai rec room in Hiawatha.

Survivors include her son, Paul D. Hilton; and daughter, Linda L. Hilton; two grandsons,  Paul W. Hilton and Dustin R. Hilton; two granddaughters by marriage, Leah and Kira Eng; and several nieces and nephews. She was very close with all of her daughter’s daycare kids who all called her grandma especially, Caylei Pirtle, Courtney and Kiya Willis, Mason Bond and Emily Jennings. She also had a granddog, Cookie, which she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; parents; and three brothers, Paul (Beverly) Graff, Leon (Denna) Graff and John (Sharon) Graff.

Irene was born Feb. 19, 1938 in rural Tama, Iowa, to Rudolph and Hilda (Backen) Graff. She married Watson A. “Bud” Hilton on Feb. 21, 1955. They moved their family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in the mid ‘60s and remained in the area ever since. She worked at Rockwell Collins, Parsons Technology and retired from the deli department at Target. She loved watching her soap operas and playing games on her tablet. She also loved to cook and eat out.
