Robert “Bob” Craiglow, 95, of Cedar Rapids, left this earth peacefully on May 17, 2018.  Hopefully he is taking long walks in the woods with his loved companions, Bowzer I, II and III.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 3 PM to 6 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Private family inurnment will be held at later date.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 11, 1923 and raised in the loving home of Harry and Clara Craiglow along with his older brother, Dick and his sister, Elsie.  He developed many of his lifelong loves as a child including radio engineering, photography, nature, and of course, dogs.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during WWII, setting up radio stations in India and the Philippines.  Upon discharge, he obtained a B.S. in engineering at Ohio State.  He came to Cedar Rapids in 1946 as an employee of Collins Radio.  He loved his job, was well respected and developed many patents.

He married Alice McCarty on July 31, 1948.  Surviving Bob are his two children, Virginia Lee Buhr and Mark Craiglow, his granddaughter, Jenny (Nathan) Matta, his two great granddaughters, Taylor and Calliope Matta and his best friend and source of comfort, Bowzer IV.  All of his survivors will think of him with much love whenever we witness a miracle of nature.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The Nature Conservancy or to an animal shelter of your choice.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff of both Garnett Place and Unity Point Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to Bob.
