Memorial

Esther Bernice Holton, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids.  Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.  A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel.  Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, New York.

Esther was born on October 11, 1934 in Port Chester, New York. She was united in marriage to John J. Holton, December 4, 1955 in Mamaroneck, New York where they lived and raised their family until they retired and moved to Ormond Beach Florida before they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to be near their daughters. She was a member of the Mamaroneck American Legion Auxiliary Unit #90.

She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Holton on June 4th, 2017, her mother Sarah Saperstein (Kopp), father Samuel Saperstein, sister Blanche Markman, and brother Bernard Saperstein. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and cooking. 

Esther is survived by her daughters: Susan Gauch, of Keystone, Iowa, Louise (Glen) Pry, of Madison, Alabama. Grandsons: John Lyon, of California, Thomas Lyon, of Colorado, Glen E. Pry III, of Ohio. Granddaughters: Emily (Dustin) Koopman, of Newhall, Iowa, Sarah (Aaron) Armbrecht, of Overland Park, KS. Great-grandchildren: Wyatt Koopman, Stella Koopman, Ruby Koopman, Haley Lyon, and Eloise Armbrecht.
