Neoma M. Burton, 94 of Cedar Rapids died Sunday February 11, 2018 at Keystone Cedars. Services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM on Thursday. Burial with military rites on Friday at 1:00 PM at the Fremont Memorial Cemetery in Fremont Nebraska. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son Rick (Natalie); a granddaughter Dana (Justin) Murphy; and one great grandson all of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Neoma was born on November 4, 1923 in Fremont, Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in education. She married Richard E. Burton on April 15, 1950 in Fremont, Nebraska. Richard died in 1986.
Neoma taught at LinMar for over 12 years and later worked for the State of Iowa in their Employment Services Department. She was a member of PEO, Four Score, Beta Sigma Phi, St. Pius X Catholic Church and proudly served in the Navy during WWII as a WAVE.
Neoma was a world traveler and did so well into her 80s. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Neoma’s name.
