Michael Robert Achey, 49, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. A visitation will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11 AM at the Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Michael Robert Achey was born on March 17, 1968; the son of Robert and Carol (Workman) Achey. He served his country in the United States Army. Michael was united into marriage to Barbara Butler on October 3rd, 1992 in Cedar Rapids. Michael volunteered with Cedar Hill Booster Club for 20 years, as well as worked at Amana Refrigeration for 25 years, and security for 16 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, nascar racing, especially going to Knoxville and seeing the sprint car races, and he was very active in his community. He was completely dedicated to his family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Bridget.
Left to cherish Michael’s memories are his wife Barbara Achey; daughter, Mariah (Austin) Pinney; grandson, Rowan Pinney; mother, Carol Achey all of Cedar Rapids; and sister, Tanya (Joe) Pudil of MN; also nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Michael’s name.
