Margaret (Marge) Anne Shadle, 86, of Cedar Rapids passed away in her home on Monday, December 10, 2018. Services: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 15 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Reginald Daniel will officiate. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Marge was born June 18, 1932 in Richmond, VA, the only child of Elvin and Florence Clarke. After high school she married and moved to rural Iowa, and later to Cedar Rapids, where she married Stan Shadle, now deceased. Marge worked in the home and as a secretary for various companies in the area.
Marge is survived by daughters Diane (Brian) Otis of Solon, Linda (Kirchhoff) Thomas of Plano, TX, Karin (Bob) Swanson of Kalona, and stepson Craig (Vicki) Shadle of Cedar Rapids. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren Sam (Deb) Otis, Jon (Ami) Otis, Dan (Dynasti) Otis, Sean and Austin Thomas, Bob, Havilah, Hannah, Heidi (Nick) Georgou, Karah, Emily, Andrew and Moriah Swanson and Tyler (Amanda) and Reid Shadle plus 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stan Shadle, stepson Scott (Patti) Shadle, and granddaughter Jill Shadle.
Marge delighted in her family and was a long-time member of Grace Brethren Church, giving back to others with acts of service. During her recent years of illness, she was comforted by her faith, along with the kindness of many gracious friends and neighbors. Marge enjoyed coloring, gardening, crafts, travel, photography and was a talented artist. She had a generous heart and will be fondly remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who could strike up a conversation with anyone. While she will be deeply missed, her family is consoled in knowing she rests peacefully in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
