Parnell E. Proctor, 88 of Cedar Rapids passed away Sunday September 10, 2017 at Northbrook Manor. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday September 20, 2017 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10:00 AM on the 20th. Private family inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Parnell was born in Orient, Iowa on June 24, 1929 the son of Forrest and Elinor Proctor. He was united in marriage to Barbara Joyce Spurr on September 1, 1951.

Parnell is survived by his wife Joyce and 5 children, Bruce (Pam), Penny (Bob) Kadlec, Steve (Kim), Deb Proctor, and Sheryl (Alan) Koep; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Pauline Hartsook.

He was a graduate of Richland Consolidated High School and the University of Iowa. Parnell attended Simpson College, Creston Jr. College, Trinity University and was a certified Public Accountant.

Parnell was a veteran serving in the United Stated Air Force. He worked as a CPA for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company in Omaha, NE., moved to Cedar Rapids to serve as an officer for the Mays Drug Company and then became the Financial Vice President for Life Investors, also located in Cedar Rapids. He served as President of the Cedar Valley Investment Corporation and was a General Partner of Proctor Investment Company.

Parnell was a member of Rotary of Cedar Rapids, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was also a member of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church.

Parnell and Joyce spent their winters in Ft. Meyers, Florida and Parnell was an avid golfer. They enjoyed the company of many friends both in Florida and Iowa.
