Arlen Lee Scheffert, 78, of North Liberty, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday September 6, 2017, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Arlen was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who found happiness in his love of gardening, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family and the love of his life, Marian Scheffert, who he shared 55 wonderful years with.
Surviving are three children, Tony Scheffert, Terry Gorman (Paul), Tracy Winker (Scott) and five grandchildren: Chad, Grace, Ellen, Katelyn, and Calvin, and two siblings, Duane and Donna Lou. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marian Scheffert, and his brother Donald Scheffert.
Arlen was born on September 27, 1938, to Lionel and Lucretia Scheffert in Monona, Iowa. He had a successful career as a Barber, Fire Fighter, and Sales Manager for safety and fire Equipment at Smeal/Danko Fire. He had a hard work ethic and excelled at all he did as a true perfectionist. He was a true gentleman and friend.
We will miss him every day, but know he is in heaven with the catch of his life.
