Betty Marie Anderson, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly while gardening on Oct 12, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Monday, October 16, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Join the family for fellowship at the church immediately afterwards.
Survivors include her sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Shaffer, nephews Mike (Becky) Shaffer, Tim (Carla) Shaffer, Jeff (Johnine) Shaffer, and Christopher (Julie) Shaffer, all of Cedar Rapids, nephew-in-law, Ford Shoudy, 17 great nephews and nieces, 35 great great nephews and nieces, and 18 great great great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Marie Anderson, baby brother, Lorenz, brother-in-law, Bill Shaffer, niece, Judy Shoudy, and great nephew, Don Shoudy.
Betty Marie Anderson (Nanny to family) was born in Cedar Rapids on October 06, 1925 and graduated from Franklin High School in 1944. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree in 1948. Betty was one of the first women Realtors in Cedar Rapids, owned two real estate companies, and is an honorary life member of the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors. She has been a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for many years, and a past president and longtime member of the League of Women Voters in Linn County. Betty’s hobbies included working on her many properties, golf, hunting, dominoes, gardening, but mostly sharing her “can fix anything” talents with her nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or to the family for a memorial in Betty’s name.
With much gratitude, the family would like to thank her many friends at Our Savior’s and her neighbors who were so wonderful to her.
