Phil was born on July 12,1953; the son of Jack and Mary (Rauenbuehler) Slingluff.  Phil was a firefighter for 35 years, using his knowledge from being a firefighter he used those skills to teach at Kirkwood. Phil loved football especially the Hawkeyes, he enjoyed his aquarium and his flowers. Phil and his wife Karen loved to travel they would spend their time traveling to Las Vegas or on fishing trips.

Phil was a kind giving man, and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.

Left to cherish Phil’s memories are his wife Karen, two stepdaughters, Holly (John) Kamberling, and Amber (Shawn) Ross, 4 step grandchildren, Dylon Secora, Rosa Cook, John Cook Jr. and Braxton Kamberling. Also surviving are many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A special thanks to Unity Point Hospice, his nurse Robin Dale for being so kind to Phil in the weeks preceding his death. Additional thanks to his best friend Mike Kach for helping getting Phil to all his appointments.

A memorial fund has been established in Phil’s honor.
