Michael John Martin, 76, of Anamosa died on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at home.  Per Michael’s wishes he was cremated. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Sunday, November 26th, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the home of Alisha and Kevin Weber in Springville, Iowa.  Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Mike was born on September 28, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa the son of William and Carmela Martin.  He worked hard his entire life as a bricklayer.  He laid brick with rhythm as if he were listening to a song.  Mike could drive across Iowa and tell you who built various buildings, schools or a brick silo.

Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends and taking the scenic route.  He never met a stranger, a bad pot of coffee or a beer that was to cold.  His contagious laugh and ability to talk to anyone made him well liked by everyone.  He had smooth dancing moves and could roller skate to the fox trot like no other.  Mike had a memory that was sharp as a tac and found humor in almost any situation.  He taught himself to text and ended every text message with, “Ha”, “Yup” or “Lol”.

Mike was most recently attending New Life Church in Monticello.  In years past, he attended St. Johns Church in Davenport.  Mike had a deep love for his children and even as his memory faded away, he always knew his kids.  Mike will now always and forever be the life of the party in heaven. Ha. Yup. Lol.

He is survived by daughters, Simone Martin, Priscilla Martin, Melanie (Lee) Baxt, Clare Montgomery, Alisha (Kevin) Weber, and Lindsey (Lance) Newland; grandchildren, Jill Martin, Colin Winters, Jacob and Gabby True, Holden Baxt, Lauren, Austen, Reilley, and Allison Montgomery, Caleb, Cory, Caden, Natalie and Levi Weber, Lina, Kendall and Aria Newland; and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; three siblings, Bob (Mona) Martin of Davenport; Bill (Julie) Martin of La Claire; and Mary (Carl) Daily of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Renae Myers-Winters.
