Memorial

Kathy L. Patten, 70 of Cedar Rapids died of heart failure at her home on Sunday November 12, 2017. Services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday. Per Kathy’s request the casket will be closed. Funeral Mass: St. Rose Catholic Church and entombment at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Lima, Ohio at a later date.

Survivors include her husband Joseph, a son Wayne (Gail) of Fairfield, Ohio; a daughter Angela (Gary) Rohret of Swisher; a sister Linda (Greg) Martz of Lima, Ohio and a brother David Bowers of Lima. She is also survived by five grandchildren Samuel, Noah, Erin, Maxwell, Riley, and her cat Sophie. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Gary and Michael Bowers.

Kathy was born on August 26, 1947 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of Jack and Helen Early Bowers. She married Joseph P. Patten on December 10, 1966 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Lima. Kathy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Welcome Wagon Club, and Glenmary Missionary Guild. She volunteered and did fund raising for several community organizations. 

Kathy enjoyed fishing, traveling, and was an avid bridge player. She will forever be remembered as a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
