Steve J. “Big Daddy” Dorothy of Anamosa passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at home surrounding by his loving family after a courageous battle of cancer.
Steve was born November 5th 1954 to John & Eleanor (Hinz) Dorothy. He graduated from Anamosa High School in 1973 also worked at Hawkeye Ready Mix and the City of Marion. (Public Works Dept.) On February 5, 1978 was united in marriage to Becky J. Weets and was blessed with their daughter Jessica Dorothy completing their family.
Steve was survived by his wife Becky, daughter Jessica (Ryan) Miller, 3 grandchildren: Ethan, Isabella & Isaac and brothers John (Debra) Dorothy of Peoria, IL, Mark (Nancy) Dorothy of North Fort Myers, FL, Jim Dorothy of Portland, OR.
He was a sweet, kind hearted man, loving father, husband, and grandfather, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He enjoyed spending his time attending vintage car events with family & friends. He showed us how beautiful the world is through the lens of a camera.
Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 29th at 2 – 4PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa at a later date.
Memorial fund has been established in his name to Camp Courageous.
