Robert D. Jennings, 93, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 10 A.M to Noon. Funeral Services will immediately follow. A committal service will be at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum were military rites will be accorded.
Robert was born on January 10, 1924 in Redding, Iowa; the son of Thomas and Ruby (Combs) Jennings. He married Dorothy in 1947; they shared many years together until her passing in 2006. In 2008, he married Shirley Gould. He retired from Northwestern Bell. He enjoyed his lake home in Minnesota with family. Bob was a loyal Hawkeye fan, enjoyed fishing, traveling and reading the newspaper. And above all else had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife Dorothy.
Left to cherish Robert’s memories are wife Shirley, his daughters Carol (Rick) Garrett, Diane Stone, Nancy (Darlene Eves) Jennings, grandchildren David (Amy) Garrett, Thomas (Kari) Garrett, Andrew Jennings, great-grandchildren Abby and Michael Garrett.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contribution be made to Meals on Wheels or St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
