Betty was born on September 27, 1932 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Anna (Zaruba) Wallace. She graduated from Mt Mercy Academy, Cedar Rapids Business College, attended Mt Mercy University and Kirkwood Community College. She always felt higher education was a privilege – she was her happiest in a college classroom. She was employed at Cryovac Company and Cedar Rapids Community Schools. Betty was a member of the American Rose Society, Linn County Rose Society and American Orchid Society (rosses were her passion). She was the editor of the Lynn County Rose Society’s newsletter and wrote countless articles for American Rose Society and American Orchid Society. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital for many years caring for patients as if they were her immediate family.

Betty was caring, very generous person, making friends easily, touched many lives by opening her heart and rose gardens to all. Another of her passions was technology – her computers, iPhone and cameras brought her much joy. Many of her photographs graced Facebook. Her love for her family and friends was endless… she gave all she had. She will be missed.

The family would like to thank Right at Home, and St. Luke’s Hospice for their help.
